The idea of The Retrospective Tour is to give a big TLE-style ‘THANK YOU’ to all those fans who have bought the albums, come to shows, shown their support and been intensely loyal to the band over the past 15 years.
They make a glorious noise together, with Leroux doing much of the music, getting a lot of sound from his guitar – and large collection of distortion pedals. LeMasne provides a steady, but powerful drum beat and unbeatable mustache. They both sing, but not often together. Housse De Racket has toured with French electro-pop band Yelle, and Leroux and LeMasne have been studio musicians for Air and Phoenix. Hungry to conquer the world, Housse tour relentlessly, playing over 200 live shows from Lisbon to Tokyo via Berlin and Beijing including sets at Coachella.
There’s a long lineage of excellent pop music to come from France: Daft Punk, Yelle, Justice, Air, Phoenix and Housse De Racket should belong in the same sentences as their friends, peers and countrymen. Their songs, particularly singles “Chateau” and “Oh Yeah” are catchy and easy to sing along with and great to dance to. It should be a matter of time before audiences pick up on the sound. They’ll likely be playing bigger clubs to bigger crowds in the immediate future.
